Mening vooraf:

Ik wist zeker dat dit een goed boek zou zijn, veel mensen uit de klas hadden dit boek gelezen en ik wist dat er ook een film van uitgebracht was. Ik wist het verhaal wel ongeveer. Er was een man die een relatie had met een vrouw, hij vermoorde haar, ging een relatie aan met haar zus, die vermoorde hij ook en toen kreeg hij nog een relatie met de derde zus. Het eind weet ik niet, dat wou niemand me vertellen omdat ze vonden dat ik hem zelf maar moest gaan lezen. Dat ging ik dus ook doen. Ik weet dat Ira Levin een goede schrijfster is, want Rosemary’s Baby schijnt ook een supergoed boek te zijn. Het enige wat ik verder nog kan vertellen is dat ik weet dat het een spannend boek is, dat heb ik ook gehoord en dat ga ik nu dus maar eens ondervinden.

Inhoud:

DOROTHY

1. Dorothy tells the boy that she is pregnant. She is very said. She wants to get married, but the boy wants her to eat pills so the baby will die. He promises her that if the pills don’t work they will get married.
2. The boy had en good childhood and he was great at school. He went to the army. He kills in a battle a Japanese guy. After coming home he discovers that his father has died by a car accident. He goes to New York. He has a couple of jobs and finally he goes to dramatic school. He meet an old lady, the have a relationship together but it doesn’t work and he goes back home. He goes to school again and he met another girl, again it doesn’t work and later he met Dorothy Kingship.
3. He gifs her the pills. He hopes that they will work. Dorothy is thinking of her family, she was good with her sister Ellen. She took the pills.
4. Dorothy stays pregnant. The decide to get married Friday, but she may not tell anyone about it, because the boy don’t want that. After the wedding she may tell everything but not now. The boy wants to kill Dorothy.
5. He goes to the library to find information about poison that will kill her. He steals the poison and some capsules out of the school pharmacy and he met Dorothy. They went to a movie. When the boy comes home he makes the poison capsules. See page 35: ‘Afterwards he went home and made up the capsules’.
6. The boy is looking for a way to make Dorothy write her own suicide note. He asks her for his picture that she had and later at home he burned it.
7. The boy has a piece of lines in Spanish. He asked her to translate it for school. It is her suicide note. He wants to speak to her that night. They will meet each other in Gideon’s. He put the suicide letter in a envelop and write Ellen’s address on it. He take the envelop with the capsules en leaves.
8. He tells Dorothy that he has been called by Hermy Godsen, the man that gave the abortion pills to him. The boy tells Dorothy that he had received the wrong pills, he has the right pills now. He gives the envelop with the capsules. First she didn’t want the pills, she wants to get married, but later she will. They say goodbye and Dorothy goes home. He went to a bar. He calls Dorothy out of an phone cell, she swallowed the pills. The boy said the pills have some effect but she mustn’t be scared or call someone.
9. The boy is in class thinking of Dorothy. The mean question is: When is she going to be found? After the telephone call to Dorothy last night he had sent the suicide note to Ellen. He goes threw everything. And then, Dorothy enters the classroom. He scared to death! He thinks she didn’t take the pills. In class Dorothy writes that the pills didn’t work, he didn’t believe her, but said nothing. And now is the suicide note on its way to Ellen! He writes to Dorothy that they get married this afternoon. Now he is thinking of how to kill her.
10. At ten o’clock they went to get married. First they want to spent the day together. Dorothy has to change her clothes and after that they will get married. The boy is looking tot the Blue Municipal Building, the biggest building in the city. He has an idea.
11. The boy calls the Marriage Licence Bureau were they will be going that day. He asks for the hours that they are open. He calls Dorothy but she isn’t there, later on she is. They will meet at 12.15. When they are at the marriage bureau it is closed, he knew that but that is his plan. They have to wait for 25 minutes, they went to the roof to see the beautiful view.
12. He wants to push her from the building. He is looking for the right place on the roof to do it, the south side of the airshaft. They talk and she confessed that she didn’t take the pills. He says he is not angry, but he is, very much! She told were the pills were, he wants to know that because that is evidence. They are sitting on the top of the roof, after talking he pushed her from the roof. See page 67: ‘ Then, with all his strength, he pushes against her fear-rigid legs. And so, she dies. He leaves, police and ambulance are coming.
13. He cleaned up Dorothy’s house, her stuff were in his house now, he threw the locker key and some bottles in the water. Her old books were thrown in the fire. The box in the fire also includes clothes for the wedding and the manual for the capsules.
14. Articles about Dorothy’s dead in the newspaper. They think she had...
